Frequently
Asked Questions:

| 1. |
Where
do these products come from and how are they manufactured?
These
products are manufactured from Chinese soil, except when a western
herb is used. Just like a Bordeaux wine cannot have all the same
particularities if the vine is cultivated elsewhere, some of our
products must be manufactured using raw materials from China because
the manufacturers of traditional medicine know the ideal location
to grow them, the right timing to harvest them and the best way
to process them.
We visited herbal medicine factories in China and entered into
a partnership, whereby we are guaranteed the best quality products,
supported by the required proofs.
We
convert all the raw materials into tablets right here in Montreal
(Canada).

Of what quality are Medelys products?
Medelys uses high-quality products prepared by a manufacturer
in China whose quality standards are the same as those imposed
by Health Canada on Canadian manufacturers.
At
first, quality verifications are made by the Chinese manufacturer
who ensures that quality standards meet our requirements. Then
a sample of each batch is forwarded to Montreal where they are
analyzed by an independent laboratory.
Before being forwarded here, the batch samples are analyzed by
an international laboratory established in China. Once delivered
to Montreal, the batch samples are once again analyzed by two
other independent laboratories.
All certifications must be compatible and confirm the quality
of the products before these products are sold on the market.
So, the Medelys Quality Seal is backed by a stringent control
system to verify every step of the manufacturing process of these
products. Thus, the highest level of quality is guaranteed.
The
rigorous verification of raw materials in China serves to confirm
the absence of contaminants, in conformity with standards.
We could say that our products have a biological quality.
Our
first and foremost objective is to ensure the highest quality
and efficacy of our products.

What more do they bring to the array of medicinal herbs currently
available on the market?
We
want to increase access to Chinese pharmacopoeia and to take this
opportunity to promote the advantages and benefits of traditional
medicine using Chinese herbs. Our first product line is made of
herbs commonly found in the Chinese family medicine cabinet. We
want to introduce these products, recognized for their efficacy,
to families here and around the world. A sure advantage of these
products is that they will fill a void or be a better alternative
to the herbal, over-the-counter medicines currently on the market.
Moreover, we developed herbal combinations that either offer synergies
or provide much sought-after therapeutic effects. |

On which studies are the properties of the herbs based?
For the past 30 years, many laboratory studies have been carried
out on the compounds and action mechanisms of these herbal extracts.
Moreover, several clinical studies have been made, mostly in China
but also in Taiwan and Hong Kong. At the present time, some international
centres in the United States and Hong Kong are focussing major efforts
in order to understand the action mechanisms of these herbal extracts.
An ever-increasing number of monographs and publications of laboratory
studies and clinical researches on these herbal extracts are available.
One need only refer to the NIH (National Institute of Health) database. |

Anecdotes
Moreover, numerous anecdotes reinforce our confidence in our choice
of products. For example, we know that Isatis was used officially
during the hepatitis epidemic outbreak in Beijing after the Tianenmein
Square events. Ziziphi is used in all formulations used to treat
insomnia. Notoginseng can save lives in cases of serious internal
bleeding because injectable solutions of this product are used as
a first-line intervention in traumatology. Kung fu adherents use
it orally and topically when they suffer bruises or sprains. Remember
that most of these products are commonly found in Chinese family
medicine cabinets, in a first aid kit. |

Can we use these products with other medicines?
Generally, there is no problem taking these products with other
over-the-counter medicines. However, in some cases, interactions
could occur with other synthetic medicines. We therefore advise
people who take medicine (particularly prescription medicine) to
consult a doctor or get advice from other health professionals before
taking these products. You will find additional information by referring
to our product index on our Web site. |
